Breastfeeding, autumn leaves, and plaid? This is definitely Oregon.

Dallas was an actress in my YPA Hometown project, that you’ll see more of later, and I couldn’t have been more excited to take pictures of her adorable family.

The morning greeted us with a constant mist that slowly drenched everything. I wandered around Willamette Mission Park scoping out good locations and planning shots before everyone arrived. We were prepared with umbrellas in case a downpour started, and rakes and blankets if we remained mostly dry.

This was the first chance I’ve had to shoot breastfeeding portraits and I loved it. Little E was fairly pleased with all the breaks from posing for snacks as well. It is hard work being that cute.

I’ve known Sara since we were both in school, and I was surprised when she asked to do pin up poses for her shoot. I’ve never shot anything like that before. But, we worked together and figured out something that I think really fits her.

You wouldn’t think while looking at the pictures that most of them were shot within ten feet of a busy highway and with my camera malfunctioning, but we somehow survived the shoot, gravel cutting into our feet, false eyelashes trying to make their escape, and the sunlight fading fast. I think overall, it can be deemed a success.

Several weeks ago we were lucky enough to get a chance to visit Oahu for a week. The months leading up to the trip I was dreading it. Five hours on a plane with a toddler? No, thanks. Hot humid weather with insta-sunburns immediately available at every corner? Uh.. I like rain and winter. But, I was lured in with promises of sea turtles and visits with family.

The plane ride was mostly uneventful, Nikolai slept through the first half of it. The second half he just wanted to play, but managed to be happy with just the toys we brought along.

During our stay I snorkeled and burned my butt to the point where I could not wear pants. I swam with a dolphin at Sea Life park, I was bitten by a parrot, had a fish try to eat my hair, and had another bird fly right into my head while I was walking down the street.
